Service Description

Sewing 101 | Drop-In Workshops Mondays 5:30 to 7:00 pm | Whidbey Coffee Café | Burlington WA Starting August 2026 Everyone starts somewhere and this is a pretty great somewhere. Sewing 101 is a drop-in workshop series designed for complete beginners and curious makers who want to learn to sew without the commitment of a full course. Show up on a Monday, work on your project, learn something real, and leave with something to show for it. Your very first session introduces you to the sewing machine and how to use it by making a cinch bag from scratch. That bag then becomes your project holder for everything you make going forward. It is the perfect first project because by the time it is finished, you know exactly how to sew. After that you choose what you make next. Every project is built your way, guided by your preferences, made without patterns, and finished with your own hands. You will learn by doing, experimenting, making mistakes, and figuring it out, with Ms. Stephanie guiding you every step of the way. Each project takes 2 to 4 sessions to complete, depending on the project and your pace. Once you finish any 3 Sewing 101 projects, you have the option to continue with more 101 projects or advance to Sewing 102, where projects get more ambitious and the skills go deeper. Sewing 101 Projects: Patchwork bag Apron Pillowcase Quilted zipper pouch (bring a 7 to 9 inch zipper and interfacing) Pillow (bring your own stuffing or inner pillow) Elephant stuffed animal (bring your own stuffing) More projects are always being added! Keep checking back! What to bring: 3 yards of pre-washed non-stretch fabric in cotton, linen, or canvas. You are welcome to split across multiple fabrics or mix and match. No stretchy fabric, please. Registration required. Book your spot in advance at positive-change.net so your machine is ready and waiting when you arrive. Book your first session at positive-change.net and be sure to reserve your machine should you need one! 📍 Whidbey Coffee Café | Across from Home Depot | Burlington WA 📅 Mondays 5:30 to 7:00 pm | Starting August 2026
