Positively Sewing is bringing hands-on sewing education to schools across Skagit Valley — and we'd love to bring it to yours.
What Is the After-School Sewing Program?
Positively Sewing offers weekly after-school sewing classes for students in grades 2–12. Classes run 90 minutes once per week and follow your district calendar. Students learn to use a sewing machine, complete real projects, and build the kind of hands-on confidence that carries into every area of their lives.
No experience necessary. Every student starts from exactly where they are.
What's Included — Zero Burden on Your School
All sewing machines provided — I bring them, I take them home
All fabric, thread, and supplies included
Complete setup and takedown — nothing stored at your school
All registrations and payments handled directly with families
Zero administrative burden on your staff
Flexible scheduling — I work around your dismissal times
All I need: a classroom, library, or cafeteria with tables and electrical outlets
Who Is This Program For?
Grades 2–5 — After school, right after dismissal. Best start time for this age group.
Grades 6–8 — Slightly later start time to accommodate sports and activities.
Grades 9–12 — Can combine with middle school until enrollment grows.
Classes can be organized by grade grouping and expanded to multiple schools as enrollment grows.
Already Approved — Burlington-Edison School District
Positively Sewing has been approved by Burlington-Edison School District for the Fall 2026 school year. We are currently in the scheduling phase and actively reaching out to neighboring districts across Skagit Valley.
If you're interested in bringing this program to your school or district, we'd love to connect.
Why Sewing in Schools?
Sewing is more than a craft. It builds real academic and life skills that students carry with them far beyond the classroom:
Math — measuring, fractions, and spatial reasoning
Fine motor development and hand-eye coordination
Problem-solving and critical thinking
Focus, patience, and perseverance
Self-confidence and pride in completing something real
Creative expression and self-sufficiency
