If you are really want to stop smoking, but are struggling, then this could be for you.
There is good evidence to support the use of hypnotherapy being successful in helping people to stop smoking. When the New ScientistMagazine did a report (1991) into all the different ways to stop smoking, hypnotherapy came out best – ahead of acupuncture, patches, pills, gum and so on.
Techniques vary from one hypnotherapist to another, but the most important thing is that your session is individually tailored to suit you – as every body is different.
Prior to your session, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire to enable your session to be tailored, you will also be asked to undertake a few other “tasks” which are quite simple and fun, but mean that you are pre-conditioned and ready for your session when you come along.
During the session, several techniques are combined, we will be doing a “habit transfer” - this means that once you have stopped smoking, your habit doesn't transfer to other unwanted habits (eating, drinking more alcohol, or nail biting, etc.). Infact, you can choose what other (healthy) habits you would like to do more of (and people have chosen all sorts of things from drinking more water, to taking deep breaths, doing more exercise, eating healthily, and so on...)
We also use a “positive anchor” which means that a wonderful happy feeling is linked (anchored in your mind) to saying “no” to cigarettes. This means that if someone offers you a cigarette, or if the thought of a cigarette pops into your head, you find it easy to say “NO!” and immediately feel happy about that.
Other techniques include unlinking the habit of smoking with certain times of the day and your daily routines (ie. after a meal, driving, drinking coffee, talking on the phone, having a break, moments of boredom...and so on), so that you feel comfortable and OK during all the times that you would normally have been smoking.
Using imagery techniques and NLP,you will be able to easily see yourself in the future as a non smoker and start feeling like a non smoker (rather than an ex- smoker) straight away.
Most people stop easily with just one session, but occasionally an additional (or back up) session is needed – which is provided free of charge if required.
