Psychotherapy and counselling are interchangeable – although, generally speaking psychotherapy is thought apon as a longer term and a more in-depth exploration of life to date (including early memories, experiences of childhood and mother/ father relationships).
Undertaking psychotherapy is a longer term commitment and can be a rewarding journey of self discovery. The sessions are usually weekly, or sometimes twice weekly, and therapy aims to help to deconstruct old beliefs and patterns and help the client to reconstruct their lives in a much more positive way. Often this therapy can take place over several years, and can involve psychoanalysis.
