(MBT) shoes
What can they do for me?
Walking for one hour in these shoes is the equivalent of three
hours exercise –and up to 5 times more calories are burned!
Just by walking in MBT’s, you are toning legs, buttocks, stomach,
and thighs. Women report 50% reduction of cellulite. Circulation
improves which helps prevent and reduce varicose veins. Posture,
balance and core stability improves, weight decreases and there
is a feeling of wellness as just by walking you are pressing on
all the reflexology points in the foot.
In addition to all this, MBT’s help cure back, joint and
foot problems (including flat feet)
In Germany, MBT shoes are a class one medical product and doctors
are “prescribing” them for patients who may otherwise
have needed hip or knee surgery.
This means you get all these exercise, health and fitness benefits
in your daily routine without extra time!
Many of the top athletes in the world (Olympic medallists and world
champions) use MBT’s for training and testify that they are
an important part of their success.
Are they comfortable to wear?
MBT’s are very comfortable – unlike conventional shoes,
they gently challenge your muscles to be more active. Walking in
them involves a gentle active rolling motion, rather than repeated
shocks and compressions. So wear and tear on joints is greatly reduced,
as is compressive load.
How do they work?
They make an even surface seem like walking on an uneven surface
– so that every muscle has to work to keep you balanced and
upright.
Due to MBT’s unique patented curved layered sole, the body
lengthens into a taller and more upright posture, this encourages
use of neglected muscle groups. Even when standing, the muscles
continue to work to gain a centre of balance.
The wedge sole has a pivot point under the heel that makes you
walk more actively. Instead of slapping the foot down with every
step, the foot “rolls” through the pivot point from
heel to toe.
Why are they called MBT?
Masai Barefoot Technology (MBT) is so called because they were
developed after watching the Masai people – who have a very
erect posture and easily balance pots of water on their head. The
interesting thing is that they have hardly any joint, hip or back
problems.
How much do they cost?
They come in a trainer / sport shoe, casual shoe, sandal and business
shoe (prices from £119)
Where do I get some?
Contact us to arrange a fitting and induction. The shoes come with
an introductory video, however, in order to optimise your benefits
from these shoes, MBT recommend a short “induction”
course. You will be properly fitted (the sizes do come up a little
smaller than UK sizes), and learn how to walk and move correctly
in them – by demonstration and practise. You will soon get
used to them and it does not usually take too long (15 – 20
mins). We have been trained by MBT to check you are walking and
moving correctly so that when you leave us, we are happy that you
are doing it right so that you know how to gain maximum benefit
from them. The induction is free to anyone who purchases their shoes
through us. (There is a fee if you have purchased your shoes elsewhere) |
