Bereavement

A loss can be really difficult to deal with and it can mean that your life will never be quite the same again. Feelings can be very strong and confusing – anger, disbelief, sadness, wondering “why?”, feelings of guilt and blame, “if only...” feelings. All of these can be completely overwhelming – but all of them are of them are very normal.

Perhaps it is difficult to talk to family and friends – and even if you do – difficult for them to
know what to say. Sometimes it is good just to have someone who will listen without judgement.

Bereavement counselling can help you to explore your feelings and start to find your feet and gradually rebuild your life.

With the busy lives we lead, sometimes it is easier to put the grieving to the back of our minds and try not to think about it, but this can lead to stuck grief –possibly depression, alcohol misuse, flashbacks, nightmares, stuck relationships, and all sorts of other problems later on.

Bereavement and loss is not always about death of a person, but can be about the death or loss of a relationship or something else.

Whether you have been recently bereaved, or your loss was some time ago.

Melanie is Cruse bereavement trained, and used to dealing with these issues in a caring and professional way.
