Why Choose a Chartered Psychologist?

What is a Chartered Psychologist?

Chartered Counselling / Clinical Psychologists are professionals regulated by the Government and the British Psychological Society. They are experts in therapy, combining counselling and psychotherapy skills with an in depth knowledge of psychology. Trained for a minimum of 6 years full time, they will have at least two (and usually three) degrees in Psychology up to Doctoral (PhD) level.

As well a working with the general public facing life event issues (such as grief and stress for example), they are also trained to work with clients with a clinical / mental health diagnosis (such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, Eating Disorders such as Anorexia and Bulimia, Personality Disorders, Depression , Phobias and so on). They are used to dealing with more complex issues. Clinical and Counselling Psychologists now do a similar and equivalent job.

Unlike Psychiatrists they do not diagnose and cannot prescribe medication.

You have already seen an NHS Psychologist – Found it helpful but felt that you were not given enough time / sessions. We can continue where you left off and tie up any loose ends.
